He also does well in a crate. He may protest with a little crying at first, but he settles down nicely once he realizes it’s time to relax.

Meet Duke! This handsome 1 year old, 63 lb neutered Lab mix from West Virginia is equal parts sweet and goofy. With his classic Lab personality, Duke is full of love, always ready to play, and guaranteed to keep you smiling.

Duke would thrive in an active home, whether with a family or an individual, especially one that enjoys outdoor adventures. He walks nicely on a leash and would make an excellent hiking partner. He also loves playing with other dogs and is currently being fostered with three pups his size, all of whom he gets along with great.

He’s also living with two cats: one confident kitty he ignores, and another who likes to run, which Duke sometimes thinks is an invitation to play. Importantly, he’s shown no aggression.

Duke appears to be fully potty trained and settles well in his crate with a little encouragement. He’s smart, responsive, and listens well, making him easy to redirect if needed.

One thing to note, Duke is quite the athlete! A fence won’t always stop him if he spots a squirrel or a potential playmate, so he’ll need supervision or a secure setup when outside. That said, he much prefers sticking close to his people or playing with a canine friend.
